Non-Gnosis

By "Non-Gnosis" I mean the state of basic consciousness, which may be purely exoteric and pertaining to institutionalised religion and/or secular materialism, or it may include a post-materialistic receptivity to inner or to non-physical realities, but without the sense of insight and inner guidance that gnosis provides.

I call this "non-gnosis" rather than the more etymologically correct "agnosis", because non-gnostics may be anything but agnostic; they may have very definite views on science, religion, philosophy, God, the cosmos, and the big questions of the meaning of life in general. But mental and emotional views of the outer being do not alone determine truth

For that matter, neither does common gnosis, because common gnosis is transcended with Enlightenment. Moreover one can have gnosis or even Enlightenment, but still be lacking in certain insights about the external material world that only the secular scientific mind can provide. Hence the need for a completely integral and integrative perspective, at least when understanding external reality.
